Welcome

Everyone is welcome to the RMCC Summer Rendezvous on the Colorado River. This is our big group event of the summer, a fun weekend of river canoeing, camping, and picnicing. It's being held at the Radium group campsite southwest of Kremling, Colorado. There will be river trips for all levels of boaters. Camping is offered for Friday and Saturday nights.

Radium, BLM Group Campsite

General Location Map

From I-70 in Silverthorne take Hwy 9 North almost all the way to Kremmling. About 1-2 miles from Kremmling turn left on County Road 1 (dirt) AKA Trough Road. Go approximately 15 miles to intersection with 11 Road where there should be a sign to Radium. Turn right onto 11 Road and go about 2.5 miles to the Radium BLM Campsite, which is on the left just before the road crosses the Colorado River.

For those of you coming from west of Frisco, take I-70 to the Wolcott exit. Take Hwy 131 north 15 miles to State Bridge, then right (northeast) on County Road 1 (dirt) about 10 miles, then left on 11 Road, about 2.5 miles to the Radium campsite as above.

There will be a large canvas canopy set up which is reserved for our group site located on the hillside farthest from the river. We will have our banner posted.

BLM fees will be $1.00/person camp fee per night, plus a $3.00/vehicle fee per night. We will be collecting the fees on Saturday night. This is all on the honor system, so please make sure that your payment gets to the Jankowskis.

The campground includes tent and vehicle campsites, some with fire pits. There are outhouses. There is no drinking water, electricity, or trash pickup.

Hello everyone.

Here are a few notes about that beginner trip on Saturday, State Bridge
to Catamount Bridge.

First, this is a learning opportunity for those of you new to the club.
I am offering match-ups for any beginners or novices who would like to
paddle tandem with an experienced partner. So far, there is myself and
one other experienced paddler available.

Would you please contact me in advance if possible, if you are either a
beginner looking for a partner, or an experienced paddler who would
enjoy paddling with a beginner. Let me know whether or not you have a
boat available. Otherwise we will make final arrangements on Saturday
morning.

Second, the whole 14-mile trip (State Bridge to Catamount) is a pleasant
and scenic river in a partially forested setting. Everyone is welcome
to come along. This section is mostly class I, with about four short
class II situations, most near the beginning. We will run these
conservatively and with plenty of guidance for beginners.

The 14-mile trip will last about 5 hours on the water, including lunch
stop. With drive times, we should be able to get back to the Radium
campground by about 5 pm. Please decide before the 9:30 am meeting time
whether you would rather do the earlier take-out at Landing Strip,
because we will be shuttling cars in the morning to both take-outs.

See You On The River!!
