The Rocky Mountain Canoe Club is an organization for paddlers in the Colorado area covering all aspects of paddle sports from flat water to white water with an emphasis on the open canoe.
Meet and greet new club members on this beginner trip. Everyone is welcome! Invite your friends to join you on this easy 10 mile paddle on a section of the Colorado River through breathtaking Glenwood Canyon. What better way to get away from rising temperatures in Denver and be cool on the river. There will be a barbecue/potluck at the take-out afterwards.
Directions:
Exit I-70 at Dotsero, Colorado. Go to north side of I-70. Go to east side of Colorado River. You will find a large parking lot, toilets and boat ramps.http://home.mesastate.edu/~jerry/guide/c13.htmTime:
Meet at the Dotsero exit at 9:00 am. We'll shuttle the cars and be ready to put in at about 10:00 am. Take-out will be around lunch time.What to bring:
- Boat, paddles plus one spare, floatation bags.
- Life jackets -- mandatory!
- Hat, sun glasses, sunscreen, snacks, drinking water.
- Dry bag, change of clothing if you should get wet.
- Wet suits for kids recommended for high water.
Barbecue/Potluck:
Ron and Nancy will be hosting a BBQ lunch afterwards. Salad, drinks, and some things to put on the grill will be provided. If convenient, please bring:
- A dish to share.
- Your own paper plates and utensils, etc.
