2007 Trip and Event Schedule

2007 Schedule updated Nov. 18, 2007 by ba

Go To Current Month

The Rocky Mountain Canoe Club is an organization for paddlers in the Colorado area covering all aspects of paddle sports from flat water to white water with an emphasis on the open canoe.

RMCC trips are cooperative adventures shared by members and their guests. The entire group is collectively responsible for the trip, and each participant is individually responsible for judging their own qualifications, skill level, and safety on the rivers being run. The trip coordinator may refuse to allow a participant on a trip, but the responsibility for judging one's own qualifications lies solely with each trip member. The trip coordinator also may restrict trip participants to RMCC members only.

Call in advance! Trips can fill up. Organizers need time for planning.

To add trips and events to the schedule, or to make changes, please click on the following link to send us a message. Please include information for each column, and keep everything very brief! Announcements are limited to club-related trips and events, or general boating events of some interest to canoeists. Include the name of the hosting organization for non-RMCC events.

Links to other descriptive web pages are encouraged. If you would like to show flow gagesthe flow gauge, please include a working link or station number.

Send Announcements

Alternatively, you may send announcements directly to our Trip Coordinator:

Bill Ashworth    303-473-9234

To join RMCC on any trip, you must be a member, or the guest of a member, and sign the Rocky Mountain Canoe Club & American Canoe Association Waivers. Click here to join...

Joint Trips with Canoe Colorado:

Note that any of our listed trips led by Eric or Jerry Nyre are sponsored jointly by RMCC and Canoe Colorado. Please click on Schedule to get more information about the particular trip, along with possible restrictions on boat type/length and the general rules and guidelines that apply to all of these trips.

Dual Rating System:
The first number is the river rating, I-IV etc., with optional +/-.
This is optionally followed by a second advisory rating for the recommended skill level, B-N-Int-A.

Wilderness First Aid Class

Penelope Purdy

303-757-2421

A message from your 2007 RMCC president, Penelope Purdy:

When it comes to emergency medical situations on a river or in the backcountry, the single most important first-responder item is contained in the gray matter between your ears. Your training, preparation and cool-headedness could determine whether an injured person gets out of a bad situation in one piece.

RMCC members can take a course specifically in river-oriented wilderness first aid to help them deal with these kinds of potential nightmare situations. Please click here and read details

Directions and location of Wilderness 1st Aid class for those of you who have signed up: The classes will be held at Red Rocks Community College (south of Golden), south of 6th Avenue between Indiana and Union streets (Map). The college is a 2-story L-shaped building. The class will be in the short leg of the L, which is southwest and away from 6th Avenue. For the Tuesday and Thursday sessions, the class be on the upper floor, room 3715. For the Saturday and Sunday sessions, class will be on the first floor room 2715. Reminder: The dates and times are April 3 Tuesday and April 5 Thursday from 6 pm to 10 pm and on Saturday April 7 and Sunday April 8 from 8 am to 5 pm.

If you have any questions please call instructor Carl Weil at 303-688-5176.
